Today was a blessed day of serving the seniors! We got up and around and left at 10 a.m. for the seniors home. When we got there mom and John Wright began to prep the food - chicken, tomato & cucumber salad, rice, and corn & peas dish. While that was happening the rest of us went to the living room and began ministering to the seniors. Pastor Ken sang and played music for them. Then came time for the seniors to perform for us!!!!! We had singing, dancing, story telling. They were so excited to share with us their talents! As one of the men - Alexy was dancing, Julie Wright 'challenged' me to get up and dance with him. I thought about it and remembered "Kim this isn't about you!" and got up! He was thrilled! I then danced with several of the other seniors. Alexy was so excited he went right to the kitchen to tell mom that he danced with her daughter. At lunch we served them a sit down dinner and just loved on them.
Afterwards we gave the ladies hand massages, Pastor Ken played chess with Alexy (former chess champion), and spent time praying with those sick. My heart goes out to them - the one lady I prayed with asked that I pray for her son who beat her that he has a changed heart. She wants to have a relationship with him and her grandchildren. Our hearts go out to them but were blessed to have served them. We told them we love them and that Jesus loves them.
When we got back to the apartment we had a meeting with the ladies to talk about the women's conference on Saturday and the men talked about what they were sharing tonight at the Russian church leadership meeting. Randy spoke on how the leaders are to support the pastor. I am so proud of him! Stepping out and making a difference using his experiences. God is changing us . . . one contact one event and opportunity at a time.
Tomorrow brings working at Dayspring to plant flowers, clean up and prepare for the grand opening next week. Tomorrow night, meeting with the couples at the Russian church. Pray that God will use us!
Blessings!
Kim
