Travel

We love to travel. Up until now our travel has been limited to work or pleasure. We are now adding LAMb activities to our travels! This blog will hopefully allow you to follow our adventures. Our thoughts, our views, dreams, and adventures. Follow along if you wish. If no one follows that's fine as well. It's just a place for us to remember . . .

Pre-Travel Jitters

Wow!  I am really anxious and jittery today.  I'm at work until 4 p.m., have a three hr drive home, then finish packing and head to Columbus tonight and try to relax.  I think once I get to Columbus I will feel better. I just need to get this trip started!

I have a lot to do between now and when we arrive in Bishkek.  I'm STILL working on my Woman's Conference session.  I don't do sessions, I organize them . . . how did I get pulled into this?  Oh yea . . . my mom!  ;-)  By the time I get on the plane in Moscow to Bishkek I would LOVE to have the basics completed!!!

I have to wonder about things once we get there - a common theme I have heard from several is that "There is NO rest until you get back to the US".  Hmmm . . . I need my beauty sleep!  LOL  I know, I know - It's not about me on this trip!  I have seen our schedule and I think they are telling us the truth - we are hopping from the moment we get off the plane at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning (7:30 p.m. Saturday evening in Ohio for those of you wondering).  We will be 10 hrs ahead of EST.  We arrive, drive 90 minutes to Tokmak, shower, eat breakfast and head to church.  Then lunch and walk around the markets in town.  After dinner THEN they will let us sleep.  It is a must to get us acclimated to the new time zone.  Then comes Monday morning with bible study at Mercy Foundation and start our visits the projects that LAMb had been working on and meet the people that they have vested their lives in.  Whew!  Tired already and can't wait to get started!!!!

Blessings!

Do I really have the strength to do this?

This is our first LAMb trip.  We have never done anything like this before.  What should we expect?  What will we actually be doing?  What will we see?

I keep reading the blogs coming from the LAMb team.  The needs are great and seem to be getting greater and greater with each passing day.  The mother whose children are in an orphanage because she doesn’t have the room in her little home.  The same mother who is looking for a business loan to get her business off the ground which will bring in money to help her renovate her home to bring her children home.  She WANTS to take care of her children . . . but she just needs some start-up help.  The children in an orphanage that need school supplies.  The orphanage that needs the money to get the plumbing fixed to give them the water they haven’t had for three months.  The widow who lost her husband and then lost her home to a fire in a matter of 40 days and now needs help renovating and rebuilding her home.  The children who need life changing surgeries.   The invalid men who need the money to get their documents to prove they are actually REAL people.  The needed supplies and furniture and equipment to officially open up Dayspring Family Life Resource Center to house young girls instead of putting them in an orphanage.  The money needed to print training supplies and guides to help the professionals do their jobs that can change the course of a country by starting with the children.

My heart is heavy.  What am I going to see, what am I going to want to do, what will I be able to do?  These are the questions the LAMb team asks themselves daily as they do the work.  I will finally be able to SEE and EXPERIENCE what they have been seeing and experiencing for several years now.

My prayer for this trip . . . that I am changed and see how I can be a vessel to get the word out of the needs.  Show me how I can personally help.  Shows me what I can do here at home . . . and to be able to communicate the needs in such a way that anyone can see that even $10 can make a difference in the lives of the lost and hurting in Kyrgyzstan and around the world.

My other prayer for this trip . . . That my heart is changed to see the needs even here at home and to have the compassion to reach out and stop for the one in front of me.

This is going to be life changing, I can feel it.  Maybe that’s why I am so unsettled.  Not just the travel details but because I am being prepared for what’s in store for me and my husband on this trip.

Blessings,

Kim

We Leave This Week!!!!

Wow - how time has flown!  This Friday we leave for what I am sure will be a life changing event in our lives.  I see the changes already in Randy - focus is different, desire is changing.  He is my rock and how blessed I am to be going on this adventure with him.  I would want it no different.  My desire is to be in ministry together; side-by-side.

Our packing is almost complete!  Can of coffee for mom & Lynn, can of coffee for the Wright's, and two bags of regular and two bags of caffeine free for the Schoolers.  What I have come to realize is that even missionaries on the mission field need a little something from home!  Soooo . . . Timmy's coffee is on it's way!  We have tons of stuff in four bags and actually most of it will be left behind.  Most of my clothes will not come home, Randy I believe is in the same boat, other special requests from the missionaries are packed, gifts for our new friends, crafts for the kids, medical stuff for the medical centers, blankets for the babies, stuffed animals for the kids, sweaters for the seniors, I could go on.

When I get home on Thursday we should only have our carry-ons to figure out how to pack and a few last minutes items to put in our bags and we will be off.

We are taking a little care package to each of the five Somalians that are stranded in the airport.  Not much but a pair of socks and a few things to munch on.  Just let them know people are praying for them across the world.  They need a safe haven!

I still have LOTS of work to do on the Beatitudes for the Woman's Conference.  My focus has been off . . . I've allowed some distractions.  Praying for those distractions . . . I'm being shown how the enemy uses 'fun' things to get our eyes off our ultimate purpose here on this earth.

Well, there is a lot to say, lot's on my mind, lots happening, lots that I have worried about but I am giving it all to God.  He's the one in control not me!!!! Sooo . . . as the saying goes . . . I will not sweat that small stuff because that is all this is now.  The big stuff awaits us in Kyrgyzstan!!!!

Blessed!

I am blessed beyond words!  We have support from so many people that we just want to thank you!  Your gifts of humanitarian and financial will allow us to bless the people of Kyrgyzstan!

We are taking WebKinz, Beanie Babies, Baby Blankets, games & crafts, medical supplies, sweaters, etc. all donated by people who are eager to help!

If you are interested in contributing you can go to LAMb International and click on Canada Helps.  By donating to the General Fund and noting that it is for Randy and I the funds will be made available to us to use for humanitarian needs.  Any funds left over will remain with LAMb to use for the people of Kyrgyzstan.

Read their blog LAMb International and the Wright's Blog Wright Family to see how the funds can and will be used.

Blessings!

16 days and counting!

I can't believe that we are ONLY 16 days from leaving for Kyrgyzstan!!!  How amazing is that?  I look at the pictures, I view the videos, and read the stories, and just wonder what God has in store for us on this trip.

I'm nervous about leading Bible Study at Mercy Foundation, scared about leading a session at a women's conference, excited about serving the seniors.  Proud to see the ministry that mom & Lynn started, encouraged to see the work that the Wright family is doing together - as a family! And blessed to see how the Schooler's are touching lives.  Ecstatic to know that Dayspring Family Life Resource Center is officially able to open with their registration and that when we do the "Grand Opening" it is with all of the red tape done and over with.  God's timing to bring those little girls into a safe and loving environment!  How cool is God!  How blessed I feel to be there at this time!

This weekend the packing begins.  I'm considering taking an extra bag with us to fill with gifts for those we meet, games for the children, and anything else God lays on our heart to take with us.

There are still financial needs to help open Dayspring - things to buy - furniture - bedding - toiletries - etc.  We have children to sponsor!  If you want to help with this please let me know!!!  I am praying that we can help purchase some items while there!

Well, there's my heart at this moment.

Blessings!
